In January 2023, I expanded my painting process to align with the winter season by collecting snow during significant snowfalls to mix with my paints. Unbeknownst to me at that time, the winter of 2023 would become Minnesota’s top three snowiest on record with a total accumulation of 89.7” in Minneapolis through April 1, 2023 (the last snowfall that I collected). These paintings celebrate the many expressions of winter, snow and ice.
