In 2014, I painted while meditating on physical boundaries in an effort to reclaim my space in this world. It began by reflecting on the undulating edges along shorelines, where I spent much of my time. Pausing at the shore to watch the movements of the river current or lake seiches, it became clear that there is powerful, holistic healing with water. Back in my studio, I expressed the emotional weather that paired with the light and shadows of the water's surface. These paintings speak to the surrendering of truths. This is about a yearning for tenderness of heart and is inspired by The Mississippi River, Lake Michigan as well as other important bodies of water in my life, where I learned to meet my edge and soften.
